On Saturday, My family was on the border of Mass when it started to snow. We all looked out the buildings windows and saw the big, heavenly, white crystls fall from the sky. So we ran to the car before it's to late and hopped in hoping for the best as th snow was sticking. It would normally take about 1 hour to 2 hours to get the Mass and about the same back, but with this storm, maybe 4 hours. Not that long with a: brother, sister, and a cozy cellular device. But then, the scariest thing of all happened. The road were not plowed, cars were spinning out (sorry for the people with 2 wheel drive :|). We have a 2006 Land Rover LR3. One of the best off-roader car in the histoy of cars. Gladly, we tested to see if this car was worth what it said. We got off the exit and decided to take back ways becase the highway came to a big hault. We are cruising on a straigt road, then all of a sudden BAM!!! It's a hill. About 20 cars was tying to go up the hill. A subaru Outback was in front of us. This was the steepest hill that I ever seen in my life. Front wheel drive cars are trying to make it up the hill, sliding backwards. We are cruising then the car starts to drift, not move, then my dad puts the snow weather gear on the car (this car is so high tech that you can control this from the inside of your car). We made up the hill, bypassed all the traffic, and made it home safely. On Sunday, my brother and I went sleding, almost broke my arm and leg after hitting a tree. But that night Max came over until Tuesday and we had a great time. Well there you go. That's what I like to call "A Snowday". The End.

Well, basically I was never home. Only one night and a day and 1/2 was I in that freezing dark and scary house. The rest, I spent at Hotel MacNutt and got temporarily adopted by them. Basically, the Hotel took in the French students and various teachers. (I was only there to see the Everetts, and Kathryn was VERY jealous.) I went sledding twice and nearly got killed by a two tan girls on a sled. (Those Bazos's, they are tan even in the winter, and now are in the south working on those tans.) Well, I also played Mario Kart and..... well..... ate about five bags of popcorn with Jamie. So, yeah, fun experience.

- picture of storm ,Abigail Curillo I should have takken pictures while the snow was still on the ground but i will make an effort to upload some more pics of downed trees in my back yard!!-Cole Munk
Emma, I also enjoyed a respite at the Hotel MacNutt, though I never actually lost power at my place in Danbury. I spent the last day up in Bloomfield (a little NW of Hartfortd), helping my Uncle Dave clear debris out of his yard. It is pretty much super bad and scary everywhere in the part of the state, probably destruction of the highest order that most people have ever seen. I haven't been to Ridgefield since this storm, but as evidenced from Irene there are so many large, old trees around there that I expect the damage was extreme this time around as well. By the way this is Mr. L. Below is a picture of part of my Uncle Dave's yard, and bear in mind that he'd already been cleaning up for two or three days:
Mr. L's Uncle Dave's house in Bloomfield, CT.
Something that I don't know if you all can appreciate is the driving aspect of all of this. Driving is always kind of scary, but with debris on the road and ESPECIALLY traffic lights out, it's really terrifying:

Lastly, here's a special tweet treat:
Identify this bird.... win a prize.
Mr.L, it's obviously a red angry bird waiting to hit the annoying green pig!Soooooo what are we learning on monday?JAMIE M (Hey Jamie- You're really close, but I think the Angry Birds are based loosely on Cardinals, and this is not a Cardinal. However, I am hooked on Angry Birds now. As for Monday, we have a ton to talk about...... some stuff from my conference last week, an interesting astronomy event that will happen this week, and then back to how Heliocentrism finally achieved domination over Geocentrism. See you soon, )
Mr. L, I think that it's a Common Rosefinch. I'm not entirely sure though. Sorry I didn't get a chance to take any pictures during and after the storm..... ) : (Hi Zoe- No stress at all about pictures, I'll happily for everyone just being safe and warm, and returning to a bit of 'normalcy'. Now, regarding the bird guess, you are extremely close. I did learn something brand new while I was doing a little more background research about this species, which is that is does in fact belong to the genus 'Carpodacus', which is commonly referred to as the 'Rose Finches'. So that's awesome, and actually makes you technically correct, and qualifies you for a prize. However, there are several species in this genus, so I'll leave it open for you or someone else to narrow in on the species. While this finch is certainly common at certain points of the year, the word 'Common' is not in its name. Thanks for playing! Hope you have 'lectricity, and look forward to seeing you on Monday.) Mr. L is it a Purple Rose Finch? Thanks, Leonard (Good call Leonard, and very close, but that is not a Purple Finch. This bird is purple, and it is a finch, but it is not a Purple Finch. For me, I know it's a Purple Finch when it is so mind-blowingly purple that it looks like a purple avian-angel came to Earth. And I know this one looks really purple, but it's not nearly as purpely as a true P.F. Purple Finches definitely fall into the 'rare' category around here, and there is another species, of which the male is clearly also pretty purple, that is much more common. Thanks for playing.)
This is a picture, of the snow in Westport. The picture was taken from a window in my room. Westport got somewhere between 2-4 inches of snow. Luckily, only 20% of Westport ended up loosing power. So I got to stay home for the storm. Westport schools were open all week, but sadly the town cancelled Halloween, but everyone including myself went out anyways.- Sophie
Well as you can tell i have had a LOT of visitors at my house. I has been a really fun week with everything going on and i cant wait to hear about others!JAMIE M
